Beer Pong Day
Beer Pong Day is observed next on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025 (143 days from today).
Since May 6, 2006, Beer Pong Day has been celebrated on the first Saturday of May every year, and falls on May 7 of this year. Here's how a simple occasion to play the game turns into a day to celebrate the game itself.
History of Beer Pong Day
The day was first celebrated at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona, on May 6, 2006, by Mr. Beer Pong (Jack Brosseit) and Mrs. Beer Pong (Mary Brosseit), and their eldest daughter. It was the graduation’s celebration of their youngest daughter, Miss Beer Pong.
While Beer Pong Day isn't old, the game itself goes back a long way. Beer pong was born, not by invention, but by evolution. And this evolution requires a significant number of appearances. Beer pong wasn't invented in a university, as you might believe, but the game actually evolved from something similar to table tennis, a game called Beirut (yes, like the capital of Lebanon). Beirut participated in using paddles to hit a ping pong ball into a cup.
Boston, Massachusetts, is often credited with adapting Beirut in the '60s and '70s to be beer pong, i.e. ditching the paddle and aiming the ball at the beer mug. Thus, the modern beer pong was born.
