Multicultural American Child Day
(Also known as Multicultural American Child Awareness Day)
Multicultural American Child Day is observed next on Sunday, June 8th, 2025 (175 days from today).
Multicultural American Child Day is a great time to celebrate the many cultural dishes that make up American Cuisine. The diversity can be seen as we travel across the country. There are regional variations and influences of immigrants from all over the world.
New England is known for its seafood, especially lobster, and its creamy clam chowder. Southern states are known for their collard greens (green leafy vegetables), chicken and dumplings, black-eyed peas, and cornbread. Sticky rice is a popular breakfast dish in the South. The Midwest has traditionally been a beef and grain-producing region, so meat, potatoes and bread are among the foods found there. In the Pacific Northwest fresh salmon is a specialty and in the Southwest, Mexican influences can be seen. California and Hawaii are both known for growing various fruits, and Alaska is known for fish and King Crab.
As a nation of immigrants, our food has expanded to include cuisines, traditions and religious influences from around the world. Many ethnic dishes are entering American culinary culture and are seeing an incredible increase in familiarity, acceptance, and consumption.
