How many days until National Beverage Day?

National

Raise a glass to all your favorite beverages on National Beverage Day.

What would our lives be without drinks? Even assuming we can survive without drinking anything, can you imagine a world without milk to go with cookies, coffee to go with cake, cold beer on a winter evening? Is hot summer or a glass of fine wine with a delicious dinner?

How would we toast anything special occasions? What shall we wash the bacon and eggs with if not orange juice? And colorful straws will have no reason to exist! Horror!

No matter what we like to drink and what we like to drink it with, drinks are a huge part of life. National Beverage Day allows us to explore our love for drinks a little deeper and experiment a bit. Let the fun begin!

What is Beverage?

Beverage comes in many forms. And whether you prefer hot drinks or cold drinks, the choice is yours. Serve caffeinated beverages poured over ice. Make it carbonated or mix it up into a cocktail or mocktail, as the case may be. Beverages can be freshly squeezed, frozen, blended, or creamy. Moreover, they also can be sweet, sour, bitter, smooth, or dry.

Especially, they can be used to cool off and to warm up. We also drink them to relax and serve them to add sparkle to the celebration. In fact, every month has a celebration of the drink. While January is quite busy and raises glasses of milk, green juice, and Our Lady of Blood, February just celebrates Kahlua. The busiest beverage month is said to be July. It even praises the Dive Shops we want to frequent. Even so, May doesn't shy away from drink celebrations either. We just celebrated our lemonade and America's favorite drink, orange juice, and will be hosting many more in May!

History of National Beverage Day

Drinks have been around, in one form or another, since the beginning of mankind. Drinks have many forms and meanings in different cultures. They can be seen as a one-off treat or a much-needed morning boost to pick me up - thanks to all coffee lovers!

The origin of National Beverage Day may be somewhat uncertain. Early suggestions for National Beverage Day can be found since 1921. At this time, National Beverage Day was known as Bottled Carbonated Beverage Day. It is considered as a way of spreading bottled carbonated drinks with some great features such as “pure” and “nutritious!” to everyone.

It's difficult to pinpoint exactly when Permanent Bottled Beverage Day became a less specific National Beverage Day, as advertisements throughout the 1920s alternately referred to it as National Beverage Day among other days.

Today, the meaning has changed thanks to a growing awareness of how and what drinks we consume, especially when they are sugary or alcoholic, so if they fall into this category, it's best to consumption in moderation.

It's not just during the summer months that drinks play a part in our lives. From cold champagne on New Year's Eve to a hot espresso on a cold winter morning in December, drinks are something we enjoy all year long!

Some reasons for National Beverage Day being loved

  • It's an expression of individuality

Each of us has a different reason to love our favorite drink. Maybe, if you love “boi”, your roots come from desi culture. Perhaps, if you love coffee, it's because it reminds you of a certain memory like early morning walks on the street or sitting in a beautiful cafe somewhere in the world.

  • There is one for every season

Whether it's hot chocolate in the winter or a refreshing juice, there's a beverage for every occasion. We as humans love to incorporate several drinks in our daily lives either to mark a celebration or start a new season.

  • They are always interesting

You will most likely find lots of variations of your favorite drink! If not, you can always make them yourself, such as latte! Or maybe your mom knows how to make a particular drink you love. That's what we love about drinks, there's always so much to choose from.

How to celebrate National Beverage Day

  • Treat yourself

Plan a visit to the cafe, bar or shop where your favorite drink waits! Not only enjoys the taste but also cherishes every moment with your favorite drink. Put your phone away, don't look at the newspaper and just spend time with you and your drink. It's like the art of doing nothing!

  • Take a class

Take a bartending or bartending class and hone your drink making skills. Not only is this a great way to learn something new, but it can also come in handy if you're throwing a party or inviting any friends over. They will definitely appreciate it!

  • Theme it up

Throw a party for your favorite drink. Provide components so attendees can make their variations. Just think of all the wonderful variations and themes of just one beverage, such as tea. The options are endless!

Ingredients: (serves 2)

  • 1-1/2 cup kale is chopped, ribbed and removed thick stems
  • 2 small celery stalks
  • 1 banana, chopped
  • 1 cup apple juice
  • A squeeze of fresh lemon juice

Direction:

  • Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth, about 20 seconds.
  • There are plenty of other ingredients that you can add to your smoothies to make them even more nutritious, like flaxseeds, black avocado spinach… the list goes on. The most important thing is that you find a smoothie that works for you. And there are so many, it's almost impossible not to have!
  • You can also spend this day trying new drinks that you have never tasted before, such as drinks imported from far away countries. Come on, how bad can they be? And even if you try something truly disgusting, don't worry — there's always another drink coming up after it to help wash it off!
