Sun Day is observed next on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2023 (91 days from today).
Sun Day on May 3rd since 1978 was designated by United States President Jimmy Carter in order to advocacy for solar power.
Have you ever known that the Sun also has a special holiday? Of course, it is on May 3rd every year the whole world celebrates Sun Day!
When did this tradition begin? That was in 1994 and was initiated by the European Division of the International Solar Society (ISES). And, one should not be challenged to find out that the goal of this initiative is to list humans to renewal energy sources!
The Day of the Sun promotes the exchange of experiences between cities and countries. Events are held on this day to demonstrate the possibilities of solar energy.
On May 3, people can tour the solar and energy efficient experimental homes. Research and project agencies organize Open Days; organize exhibitions and meetups, contests, competitions, solar and electric vehicles.
People attend the roundtable and discuss the technical, economic and social aspects of solar power. Competitions are held for school projects and art work.
The unique feature of using solar energy is that by using part of the solar energy we do not affect the energy balance of the planet! Yes, so solar power is one of the most eco-friendly sources! It allows to avoid the extraction and burning of fuels that pollute the environment.
In addition, solar power is not desirable amid rising costs for other energy sources. Therefore, the use of solar power has recently become more and more popular.
Today, there are many devices that are made to run thanks to solar batteries. Solar energy is used in street lighting.
In addition, remote settlers, owners of private houses and gardens use solar energy more often in their households.
Recently at the Central Asian Climate Change Conference (CACCC-2019) on April 3-4 in Tashkent, the organizers organized an exhibition with examples of best practices and technologies on climate change to climate change, has been shown to be effective at the local level. The exhibition introduces quite a few technologies connected with the use of solar power (solar water heaters, parabolic furnaces, etc.).
The CAMP4ASB project team consists of stakeholders - experts, organizations and NGOs from Central Asia and other countries, with the aim of selecting affordable technologies for the Exhibition integrates more than 100 accessible technologies for sustainable water and energy supply, as well as food production at the local level in Central Asia. Project experts developed and approved economic, environmental, social and technological criteria to evaluate and select climate-resilient technologies for demonstration at the conference. According to the approved criteria, the 20 most accessible and effective technologies were selected for demonstration at the Exhibition.
