History of Support Teen Literature Day

Teenagers read less and less. That trend worries some people, and not just those grumpily mumbling about today's kids. Youth Support Literacy Day encourages people to read books and raises awareness for teenagers to be interested in reading more.

Literature gives a point of view. George R.R. Martin was not wrong when he said that a reader lived a thousand lives before he had died. The man who never reads lives alone.  Good books will give readers to see through the eyes of people from different backgrounds and values. It's so great that it also teach us a lesson in empathy.

What about high school students who can't find books interesting? Enter the librarian, in charge of finding books. Reading advocates, teachers, and librarians across the country use Support Youth Literature Day to highlight the Young Adult (YA) genre and showcase outstanding YA authors.

Smartphones and social media are two important factors in the battle for children's attention. Ray Bradbury said that burn books and destroy a culture are different. Just make people stop reading them. Support Teen Literature Day is a reminder for our children in the future if they stop reading.
