Unlike most holidays, First Contact Date is a date in the future history! Trekkies believes that April 5, 2063 will be a pivotal moment in human history. It was on this day that scientist Zefram Cochrane first achieved vertical drive in his Phoenix spacecraft. Shortly after the historic launch, Vulcans appeared at the base near Boseman, Montana. Therefore, First Contact Day also celebrates the achievements of Dr. Cochrane.
