History of Heavenly Hash Day

There are some desserts called Heavenly Hash. According the tradition of Southern, it is the fruit salad version. It is very easy to do. Mix any fresh fruit you like together (we recommend oranges, coconuts, and pineapples), then add marshmallows and sour cream. Stir the salad well and refrigerate overnight. The next morning, Heavenly Hash's salad will be ready to serve. The fruit acids and sour cream will break down the marshmallows and make the salad sweet.

There's also another Heavenly Hash dessert you can make to celebrate this holiday. These can be chocolate candies, made with marshmallows, evaporated milk, and chocolate chips, or a cookie version made with mini marshmallows, nuts, and coconut in a chocolate cookie dough. Even if you think of a creamy version of Heavenly Hash (chocolate ice cream with marshmallows, chopped nuts, and chocolate chips), this dessert is perfect for the day.

If someone offers you Heavenly Hash, you might want to clarify: Is it a fruit salad with sour cream or whipped cream, or a chocolate or baked confection with marshmallows and assorted seed?

EAVENLY HASH: FRUIT SALAD

Minced version of fruit salad is a traditional dish of the South. It begins as a Christmas recipe with red maraschino cherries, green grapes, pecans and other ingredients folded into whipped cream. Over the generations, this recipe has evolved, with everyone inventing their own hash function (the term, after all, refers to a jumble or jumble of ingredients). So these days the recipe for hash heaven basically calls for some kind of fruit - fresh, canned and/or candied - in some sort of creamy white binder. We prefer sour cream, but have also found, mayonnaise, pudding, whipped cream, even yogurt or cottage cheese and (gasp!) Cool whip. Here are just a few combinations we've researched: Fruit and cherry maraschino cocktail Filled with cherry pie and pineapple puree Shredded coconut and/or banana Grape and orange segments Enhanced with marshmallows and nuts Flavored with Jell-O lemon or vanilla pudding binder We make Heavenly Hash with fresh fruit (strawberries, bananas, pineapples, peaches) and nuts (mixture of pecans, pistachios and walnuts) dog), folded into a crème fraîche or light sweet and sour cream. If the whole concept sounds odd to you, know that Heavenly Hash is a comfort food for its fans.

TRANSFORM: AMBROSIA

Ambrosia is similar to fruit salad of the South. While some people use the terms interchangeably, most ambrosia recipes feature coconut and pineapple, tangerine or orange, and mini marshmallows. Like Heavenly Hash, Ambrosia can also include nuts and maraschino cherries. We found an old Ambrosia recipe from Emeril Lagasse that uses fresh fruit (banana, berries [3 types], orange, and pineapple), whipped cream, and toasted coconut. And because it's by a celebrity chef, there's a fresh mint leaf chiffonade.

HEAVY MASK: CAKE, CAKE, COOKIE OR ICE

People like the concept of hashing heaven so much different ingredients in a foundation they turn it into other sweets called Heavenly Hash: A chocolate candy, with marshmallows and other sweets seed type. A version of biscuits, marshmallows, chopped nuts and coconut in chocolate cookie dough a version of chocolate cake, chocolate layered cake with marshmallow cream filling and decorated chocolate icing garnished with nuts. An ice cream version: chocolate ice cream with a swirl of marshmallow, chopped nuts and chocolate blocks.
