April 4^th every day is Hug a Press Day or National Hug a Newspaper Day in order to encourage appreciation for those reporting the news.

It is important to be an informed citizen, even if there are no upcoming elections. But let's face it — it can be hard to stay on top of the news all the time. And that's why messengers are so important. We love them all, from the writers who make us look forward to reading their articles to the news anchors that are entertaining (or cute) enough to make us want to follow them every week. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, news is a word that dates back to 1596 and is used to describe people who work hard over the years to ensure that they keep their news accessible to everyone regardless of theirs geographical location in the world.

There are some famous journalists including Tom Brokaw, Barbara Walters, David Brinkley, Katie Couric, Walter Cronkite, Ann Curry, Lester Holt, Peter Jennings and Connie Chung.

A local journalist reports prominent and important things that are happening in that locality on a daily basis. In doing so, they'll keep you informed about politics, business, news, traffic, crime, and even provide educational updates that will help you better prepare for tomorrow.
