History of International Noise Awareness Day
The founder is the Center for Hearing and Communication (CHC) in 1996 in order to raise awareness about the impact of noise on wellbeing and health human health. Noise affects people in many ways; however, only deafness and discomfort draw more attention from the public and schools, expert groups.
International Noise Awareness Day does not only create a focus on noise but also on means of reducing noise levels. This day are widely held in several countries around the world, for example, Brazil, Chile, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United States. In recent years, related events have been initiated in Asia, including Singapore and Australia.
How to celebrate International Noise Awareness Day
Consider taking some simple steps to help bring peace and quiet into your day:
- Turn the volume down or off completely - unplug and read
- Check your hearing - talk to your doctor about any pain, discomfort or ringing in your ears
- Go for a walk or watch the sun rise - and make it a regular habit (invite friends or neighbors to come along)
- Spread about the dangers of loud noises to all people including friends, family, neighbors and co-workers.
