Jump over Things Day is a day dedicated to this art, also known as free running, and how to face the obstacles it brings to enthusiasts. If you love parkour or are looking for a new way to approach life's challenges, the Jump Over Things Day that takes place on April 6th every year is a great opportunity for you.
History of Jump Over Things Day
You can study more about the origins of Parkour by being back to Western Europe, where George Hebert, a French Navy Officer, was contemplating his time among the indigenous tribes of Africa. He discovered that without formal training, they have beautiful bodies, grace, agility, dexterity, and all this is a result of the way they live their lives, nothing more and nothing less. He will experience one more time in a rescue operation on Mount Pelee, to confirm in his mind that courage and altruism are intrinsic parts of the sport of skill.
David Belle will not be born for 37 years after he reaches these conclusions, however, he will base these studies on as a result of discovering his father's successes in athletics and gymnastics. He will discover a training method his father used called “Parcours”, after which he begins to practice on his own. It won't be long before he begins to extend this philosophy to the world and share the art of what will be called parkour.
