National Honesty Day is annually commemorated on April 30th. On National Honesty Day, we celebrate candor, trustworthiness, openness, and honesty. This day was created to make people understand the importance of honesty and to motivate people to tell the truth. On National Honesty Day, do not forget telling the truth frankly and openly. National Honesty Day is strategically celebrated on the last day of April to balance out the missteps we celebrate on April 1st, which is April Fools' Day.
History of National Honesty Day
National Honesty Day was established in the early 1990s by M. Hirsh Goldberg, author of The Book of Lies. M. Hirsh Goldberg is also a former Maryland press secretary, and he chose April 30. is Honesty Day for two reasons. The first reason, April begins with the anniversary of lies, which is April Fools' Day. The second reason is that April 30th is the 1 year anniversary of George Washington's inauguration. Billy Joel, a famous American musician and singer, once sang that “honesty is a lonely word,” showing that honesty is a rare quality in personal and professional relationships. This day highlights the fact that honesty doesn't want to be a lonely word and that candor can strengthen any kind of relationship. Honesty Day also advises politicians to be honest and stay away from lies.
