National Learn to Row Day on the first Saturday in June is a special event where rowing facilities open their doors to anyone who wants to try rowing.
National Learn to Row Day is sponsored by both USRowing and Concept2. This event is an outreach day that educates and inspires all ages about the great sport of sailing. “This day plays a very important role in the overall growth of the sport by bringing visibility and attention to rowing in local communities,” said USRowing Director of Member Services, said Susan Smith. In addition, for most organizations, National Learn to Row Day is an important recruiting tool to build their membership. USRowing offers participating organizations with free promotional banners, as well as posters, brochures, and loads of event tips.
You will learn owing terms, how to carry a boat and oars, how to navigate land and paddle on water, and work with others to navigate boats on water.
- All fitness and sports backgrounds are welcome, no experience required.
- Wear weather-appropriate clothing, sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses. Baggy clothing is not recommended due to the design of the boating equipment.
- Bring a water bottle.
