National Ranch Day
(Also known as National Ranch Dressing Day)
National Ranch Day is observed next on Monday, March 10th, 2025 (88 days from today).
After National Meatball Day, National Ranch Day which is celebrated on March 10 every year, is a holiday that honors one of America's favorite ways of dressing.
History of National Ranch Day
Hidden Valley claims to have created the First Ranch in 1954, on its son's ranch in the mountains outside of Santa Barbara - pretty idyllic for the birth of an actual ensemble. It is believed that Hidden Valley rancher and Steve Henson, a plumber firstly created a farm and cooked for his guests, covering his meals with a steaming concoction. Guide of buttermilk and herbs.
Steve started packing his clothes and delivering them to customers, but couldn't manage the demand. Eventually, the Ranch hit Southwest supermarkets and then traveled across the country, forcing the production of the heavenly liquid to be moved to a larger facility in Sparks, Nevada. Gone are the days of family-style condiments given to friends and neighbors mixed with buttermilk and mayo.
In 1972, Clorox acquired Hidden Valley ranch clothing for $8 million, and Kraft Foods and General Foods were quickly sued for trying to create their own Ranch varieties. While preventing copying, Clorox worked hard to refine the recipe to eliminate expensive dairy and develop a pantry-friendly bottled version that didn't require refrigeration.
Ranch varieties and methods of consumption flourished in the 1980s. Before long, Ranch lovers were snacking on Cool Ranch Doritos and Hidden Valley Ranch Wavy Lay's chips, while kids were choosing. Choose from taco sauce or pizza. Even the Ranch-flavored dry seasoning has made a splash on popcorn nationwide. Ken's, Kraft, Newman's Own and Marie's company have put their names on the Ranch ring since Hidden Valley originated with the spice, and we'd all be better off for that.
Ranch is one of the most popular and best-selling sauces in the United States and Canada and has regularly been on top of salads since it came out. With the increasing creativity, people are regularly changing farm-centered dishes and recipes from adding it to fried vegetables to fried cheesecake (we're not sure about that). We think the Ranch deserves all the credit it will receive on this special day!
How to celebrate National Ranch Day
Ranch is said to be one of the best-selling outfits in the US and Canada, according to National Ranch Day. According to the magazine, 15 of the average 38 salads Americans eat each year are Ranch-style salads. And in a 2017 survey, 40% of Americans also said the farm was their favorite place to dress.
But what makes the farm such a fan favorite? Maybe it's the zesty flavor or because it goes well with so many foods. Furthermore, there are many ways it can be used beyond making salad dressings or dipping sauces.
To celebrate National Ranch Day, check out some of the ways you can enjoy dressing up on the farm:
- Bread making with ranch
Adding farm to bread recipes may sound strange to some, but it really works. In addition to a pack of ranch dip mix, this "Pleasant Breakfast Bread" recipe from Hidden Valley calls for extra cheese, green peppers, and even cooked sausage.
When baked together, these breads make for a "comfortable" savory breakfast.
- Add it to the soup
If you're looking for a way to add another flavor to your soup, why not try adding ranch to it? If you're eating taco soup, for example, adding a dry farm mix will not only add flavor to your soup, but will also help make it a bit thicker, says Allrecipes.
- Put it in the pasta
This recipe for Pasta Buffalo Ranch Chicken from Delish can be perfect for those who love pasta and the delicious combination of buffalo chicken and ranch sauce. As the name suggests, this recipe calls for buffalo sauce, ranch seasoning, chicken, and pasta.
Together with butter, cream cheese, milk and green onions, this recipe offers a new way to enjoy the tried and true combination.
- Make Ranch Scrambled Eggs
A quick and easy way to add new flavor to your morning eggs is to make ranch-raised scrambled eggs. To make it, you simply add ranch mix to your usual combination of eggs, milk, butter, salt, and pepper.
- Use it as a marina
Those who really love ranch can try using it as a marinade, Allrecipes suggests. For example, you can simply wrap the chicken in ranch sauce and let it sit for about 30 minutes before cooking.
Another way to do this is to combine a mixture of dry ranch marinade with Worcestershire sauce, mustard, vinegar and olive oil to form a unique marinade for grilled meats or vegetables.
- Farm-based chili making
Just like the farm, chili is also one of the favorites of Americans. For the occasion, why not try combining the two to form a farm-based chili? This Chicken Ranch Chili recipe from Delish includes ingredients like shredded chicken, sour cream, and a ranch spice blend.
It may look a little different from the chili we know, but it could be perfect for farm lovers everywhere.
- Try Ranch Soda
Yes, this is real, and it was featured by Lester's Fixins Soda, according to National Ranch Day. In fact, the company has also introduced other unique soda flavors like bacon, peanut butter, and jelly.
It may not sound as delicious as other traditional farmhouse recipes, but it's definitely a unique way to celebrate the occasion.
