He was a notable Prime Minister of Great Britain during World War II and is also known for his political and military knowledge. He was elected and became a member of the British Parliament in 1900 and later prime minister of the United Kingdom.

In his early 20s from 1895 to 1900, Churchill fought in Vietnam. Cuba, India, Sudan and South Africa, mentioned in dispatch and recommended decoration, won four campaign medals and the Spanish Military Merit Medal, wrote five books, became a war correspondent renowned school and faculty, gained international fame as a prisoner of war escape, and elected to a seat in Congress, all before his twenty-sixth birthday. He then led England to victory in the Second World War under his command as prime minister. As a famous politician, military officer, and writer, it's hard to pinpoint who he's had the most impact on. With the Nobel Prize in Literature, numerous prestigious medals, and an undeniable impact on the world we live in today, we choose this day to honor a man who not only achieved greatness, but also character make it.
