How many days until World Book Night?

World

It is a time to encourage adults to take the time and read at night.

Most people agree that reading is very important for a child's development! But with all the trials and tribulations of adulthood, many adults have barely any free time to read. Factors that lead to why people don't read can range from lack of time to poverty to mental health concerns.

However, reading is certainly important because it brings us many feelings such as relaxing after a hard working. Reading helps people to get more knowledge about the world around us, and can also act as an outlet for stress relief. However, not everyone can see the benefits that reading can bring.

World Book Night will change the reading hobby of all people and encourage them to spend time reading at night and giving away free books!

History of World Book Night

World Book Day has been created for a while in order to give more opportunities and encourage children to read books as much as possible. If World Book Day is dedicated for children, World Book Night will be created for adults to read more books together.

World Book Night started back in 2011 in the UK, when Jamie Byng, MD of Canongate, conceived the idea, which was helpful for adults to spend more time reading. That was a resounding success in its first decade.

In 2012, this day was changed from March to April to coincide with UNESCO's International Book Day. Then, in 2012 and 2013, the holiday developed in the United States with more than 50,000 participants every year.

In the end of 2013, it got benefits from being part of the Reading Agency, an organization focused on helping and encouraging others to read more books. Each year, books are given to people in hospitals, prisons, libraries, colleges, homeless shelters, and their communities through Reading Authority and World Book Night.

This book giveaway has helped bookstores sell more books and continue their business. Volunteers donate books, encourage others to read and develop their knowledge of the world around their local communities.

All in all, World Book Night is responsible for reaching out to so many people who give and receive books and hope to read them too!

How to Celebrate World Book Night

How about celebrating a fun and adventurous activity on World Book Night? Whether being alone or married, let spend time to enjoy this day following some below ways:

  • Volunteer and participate in World Book Night

You can witness the amazing things in World Book Night by doing volunteer at a local library or bookstore and help give away some free books. Check to see if the local community hosts any events related to World Book Night. If you don't have any, don't be afraid to start one.

  • Free book giveaway

Donate books to people in hospitals, care centers, homeless shelters or daycare centers. Check with a local bookstore to see if they can help arrange for some books to be donated to a good cause. To make it more affordable, books can be ordered online in bulk, purchased at a second-hand bookstore, or even collected from thrift stores or indoor stores. Reading second hand books is a great way to enjoy the written word and help save the planet.

  • Sit down and READ

Of course, the whole sentiment of the day would be lost if people just got into World Book Day activities without ever actually taking the time to sit down and read a book! So remember to make time to read a book late into the night and relax.

Technically, the 'reading time' during World Book Night is considered to be between 7-8pm. The great thing about this is, if people around the world are reading during this time in their own time zones, the 'reading time' will last a very long time as it moves around the planet!

For people who do not any ideas for books to read, World Book Night offers a list of books each year for references that can help give suggestions or give ideas about what to read next.
