When was the last time you wish? Was it on your previous birthday? Have you wished good health for a loved one who is going through an uphill battle ahead? As far as you know, wishes have many different shapes and forms. They are all important. After all, if you don't have desires and dreams, you have no hope!
Some truths about World Wish Day
World Wish Day is a day that celebrates wishes in all their forms! This includes wishes that have not been fulfilled, as well as wishes that have been fulfilled.
Date was founded by the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This is a non-profit organization founded in Phoenix, USA. The purpose of the organization aims to support ill children to achieve their dreams. They grant wishes to children between the ages of two and a half to 17 years old.
The Make-A-Wish organization has grown massively over the years. It is operating in 60 different locations within the United States. The organization is also active in 45 other countries around the world.
At first, please think about the process if you want the Make-A-Wish Foundation to make someone's wish come true. A child may be eligible to receive a wish if one of the following sources mentions them: a potential aspirational child, a legal guardian or parent, or a medical professional undergoing treatment. There is an online claim form, and so you only need to fill out this information if you want to claim a wish for an unwell child.
History of World Wish Day
World Wish Day honors the wishes that have been granted and the wishes still in progress through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Make-A-Wish is the world's leading children's charity and largest gift-giving organization, with more than 45,000 volunteers and 30,000 wishes awarded each year to terminally ill children and young adults. I am suffering from a serious illness. Since its founding in 1980, more than 480,000 wishes have been granted, giving children joy and hope, as well as the strength to better fight illness. After being started in Phoenix, Arizona, Make-A-Wish has spread around the world. Make-A-Wish International was founded in 1993, with five countries outside of the US participating in it; the number is now over 50. There are more than 60 chapters in Make-A-Wish America.
The first World Wish Day took place in 2010, on the 30th anniversary of the grant of the wish, which inspired the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Chris Greicius is a 7-year-old boy with blood cancer who wants to become a police officer. On April 29, 1980, members from the Arizona Department of Public Safety, as well as local police officers, made Chris' dream come true. On that day and the following days, he was issued a uniform, helmet, and badge. He also took a motorcycle test and got to fly a helicopter. Sadly, he passed away on May 3 - but not before his wish came true.
The people who went on to found Make-A-Wish discussed giving other wishes to children with terminal illnesses. Frank "Bvet" Salazar, another 7-year-old with leukemia, later became Make-A-Wish's first official child. The connection between Disney and Make-A-Wish was already formed by this time, as visiting Disneyland was one of Salazar's wishes. The foundation has been a success ever since, but it still needs support and that's what World Day is all about.
How to celebrate World Wish Day
There are many different ways you can celebrate World Wish Day. One way to do this is to fill out the request form at the Make-A-Wish Foundation if you know someone who meets the criteria given. If you know someone deserving their dream, however, they cannot make it to the Make-A-Wish Foundation; you can try to find another way to make their wish come true. This may include fundraising and assembling a group of people who can help make one's wishes come true.
Re-reading some of the amazing wishes the remarkable foundation has made for children around the world. If you check out the website of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, you will be able to read all the stories about children and their desires.
From wanting to join a movement game to being a cop for the day, there are many different wishes kids want to come true. Not only you can read about their amazing stories, but you can also donate to help their dream come true. This is definitely one of the coolest things you can do on World Wish Day.
There are many TV shows and movies that involve people making their wishes come true. We couldn't think of a better movie for World Wish Day than The Fault in our Stars. This is an American romance and drama film released in 2014. It tells the story of a 16-year-old cancer patient, Grace Lancaster, who is forced by her parents to join a support group. She meets another cancer patient, Augustus Waters, and they fall in love, going on an unbelievable but heartbreaking journey together.
We recommend having a tissue box handy for this one! So, how does this movie have to do with making a wish? There is a fictional organization called Genies that is similar to Make-A-Wish, and this allows Hazel and Augustus to go to Amsterdam together so Hazel can visit her favorite author. We won't give away anything else!
A great suggestion for World Wish Day is about creating your own wish jar for you and your family. Besides, you can encourage all family members to do a great thing, for examples, writing their wishes on a piece of paper and fold them, placing the paper inside the jar. Then you and the others can sneak into the wish jar when no one else is around and try to make everyone's dreams come true. You may not be able to make all wishes become true at once; however, it gives everyone in the family something to work towards. You can then experience the sheer joy on the faces of your loved ones as their dreams come true.
