Dimpled Chad Day
Dimpled Chad Day is observed next on Saturday, January 4th, 2025 (24 days from today).
All of us know baseball as a team sport. In which the player of one team will throw the ball hard at the player of the other team, and this player will try to knock the baseball off with a baseball bat before it is caught by the teammate behind the player of the other team. Baseball is very popular in the United State and East Asia. The birthplace of baseball is in the United State. It is not only the main sport but also the national entertainment. Baseball players are often loved as TV Stars. And they can become national heroes when they win absolute victories in tournaments between countries around the world.
Among the famous American baseball players of the MLB tournament, there are hero athletes named Chad. The special thing is that these heroes all have dimples. Therefore, to honor these heroes, Americans have chosen January 4th every year as National Dimpled Chad Day.
It is said that National Dimpled Chad Day is a day to commemorate all the dimpled chads around the world. Moreover, because of the importance of chad in the election of 2000, National Dimpled Chad Day appeared and is significant until now. After the election, there was a move to leave the hole-punch voting right after that.
A Chad is a small splinter that is punched out and remains when a hole is punched in a material such as cardboard or paper. The 2000 election is directly related to chad. In many counties of Florida used automatic voting machines, with punch cards for elections. That is a problem because many holes are not completely punched leading to depressions, hanging. Mechanical machines was unable to count these votes. A manual counting of votes was carried out. Despite manual counting of votes for 36 days after the election, it was difficult to determine what voter intent was from ballots with suspended letters. If the United State Supreme Court does not issue a decision to stop the vote counting in Florida on December 12, it will be difficult to finalize the results of the election in here.
This could be considered an endless election, and the very length of this election was documented in a book called: The thirty-six-day Battle to decide the 2000 election.
There is no specific activity to celebrate The Dimpled Chad Day, but it is created in memory of all the dimpled chads in the world. Give positive words to them.
