Why National Earl Day?

Earl has become a very rare name these days and it's not a name you get without earning. If you have achieved the title of Earl then you have shown real achievements. There have been many Counts over the years that have made their mark in history with their contributions. For example, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court who led the investigation into President Kennedy is Earl Warren. However, he is not the only person with the name Earl to have achieved remarkable achievements.

There have been many men named Earl who have tried to contribute in various ways to society. Although the name itself has become unpopular, there are still plenty of reasons to celebrate its existence, done on National Earl's Day every year. Add the fact that it's a fun day, there's no reason not to celebrate it.

History of National Earl Day

National Earl Day was created in 2016 by Roger Slack in honor of Count Baltes. It was approved for the 2016 opening date of the Dirt Late Model Dream at Eldora Speedway, founded by Baltes in 1954. When the date was created by Roger Slack, he ensured that it coincided with the opening date of the prestigious dirt racing event.

Earl Baltes was a bandit who later became a dirt track owner when he turned Eldora Ballroom into an Eldora Speedway. He then expanded the track and started promoting more tracks and events. He's promoted some of the highest-paying short-distance races across Ohio and Indiana.

In 2016, Eldora Highway events are still going strong. Other events such as the World 100 and King's Royal, part of the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, are held annually at Eldora Speedway.

National Earl Day will celebrate all the Counts out there and some of the greatest achievements of those with that name.
