National Student Volunteer Day
National Student Volunteer Day is observed next on Thursday, February 20th, 2025 (70 days from today).
National Student Volunteer Day is celebrated annually on February 20 to encourage the students to volunteer in many activities.
History of National Student Volunteer Day
There is no clear evidence about the origin and the creator of National Student Volunteer Day. However, we only know that National Student Volunteer Day serves as a reminder of the importance of serving the community. By participating in service projects, volunteers can make a huge impact on their communities.
Ways to Celebrate National Student Volunteer Day
By participating in service projects, volunteers can make a huge impact on their communities. Here are a few ways you can celebrate this day, both on February 20th and throughout the rest of the year.
1. Help a local animal shelter
There are many ways for us to help animal shelters. You can do is to be a volunteer at a nearby animal shelter. One of the closest facilities to Agnes Scott is PAWS Atlanta, which is a no-kill shelter for dogs and cats. If you can't go to an off-campus animal shelter, you can also start a small fundraising activity, such as selling cupcakes to raise some money. Another thing you can do is make some cat or dog toys to donate to a shelter.
2. Sign up to be a tutor with Mind Bubbles
Mind Bubble is a nonprofit organization that provides free tutoring services to students throughout the Atlanta area. On Wednesdays, there are some tutoring sessions on Agnes Scott's campus at the Bullock Science Center from 6:15-8:15. If you'd like to sign up, visit Mind Bubble's website at https:// mindbubble.org for more information.
