St. Stupid Day

Ed Holmes (Bishop Joey of the First Church of the Last Laugh) was the founder of St. Stupid Day in the late 1970s with the belief that one of the unifying bonds in society was stupidity. If April 1^st of each year falls on a weekday, the parade begins at the foot of Market Street and follows a fixed route through the financial district.  If April 1^st of each year falls on a weekend, the parade will begin at the Transamerica Pyramids, then move up Columbus Avenue, and the destination is Washington Square. The parade begins at noon with free lunch, confetti, flags and costumes.
